Heavy rains in many parts of Uttara Kannada since Saturday morning: People lives disrupted
Since Saturday morning heavy rain observed in hilly area and coastal area of Uttara Kannada dist. Effected people lives in many places.
Gundaba river in Honnavar has been flooded. SDRF team rushed to the spot and engaged in rescue work. 32 families who were in danger are being shifted to a safer place. Chikkanakoda, Kekkara and Hosakuli villages of Honnavar are facing the threat of inundation. Already 68 people of these villages have been shifted to safe place.
Supa, Bommanahalli, Tattihalla, Kodasalli and Kadra reservoirs are receiving good rainfall. Inflow into the reservoirs has also increased. The inflow of the Kadra reservoir has also increased, thus the outflow of the reservoir has also increased to the same extent. Eight gates of the reservoir were opened and 40,331 cusecs of water was released.
Two gates of Bommanahalli reservoir were opened and 9156 cusecs of water was released. If the basin receives similar continuous rainfall, more water is likely to be released from the reservoir.
District In-charge Minister Kota Srinivasa Pujari today visited the affected areas of Bhatkal and Honnavara and inspected the damage.
